Informations about MP3s

At first, I was hoping to spread the Noir Soundtrack by way of posting them on here.  And have people download one by one with each passing week.  But I soon find the idea impossible because of storage limitation and my rather unreliable memory to actually put up new ones.

Then I thought about having people send me requests so I could EMail/ICQ/AIM/DCC/FTP/NG/Whatever them the songs.  But, my bandwidth is limited, and I'm lazy.

So, here is how to acquire them by yourself.

1) Go to www.download.com

2) Click on the box labeled "Search" on the upper right hand corner, and enter in "Audiogalaxy"

3) You should see the result including Audiogalaxy Satellite 0.606, download from that point on should not be a problem.

4) Install Audiogalaxy into your harddrive and follow directions.  You should get a blue icon with the name AudioGalaxy on it.  Double click on that.

5) Sign up for a new account, and follow instructions!  Soon, you should be logged into the "Master Server"

6) Click on the big button that says "GO!"  And wait till a new browser is loaded with the audiogalaxy website.

7) Share your files, you download faster that way by being able to change the "simultaneous transfers" (I can get up to 10).  Once the browser is fully loaded, click on the Music Search Box, and put in -- "Noir <song name>"

For example, if I am looking for the song Salva Nos, I would type in 'Noir Salva nos'

8) The example search returned with a "Top Matching Song" that has 4 green bars on it and a radar dish right beside it.  What you need to do now, is click on the radar dish.

9) Now wait patiently, and check your audiogalaxy satellite (the program where you clicked "GO!" from) and eventually, you'd start recieveing Noir - Salvo nos.

10) Listen to the song with WinAmp, and try out these following WinAMP skins.

    a) Noir - Picture of Kirika and Mireille, the buttons are hard to see, but, it's the first from Sigurd De Mizar.

    b) Chloe - Picture of Chloe, buttons are easier to see than the previous, a wonderful improvement.  Another  from Sigurd De Mizar.

Addendum --

You could goto http://www.animemp3s.org and download the first OST from em =)  Very nice site too!

Information about Downloading
Fansubbed Episodes

Personally, I only know of three reliable methods of obtaining new Noir episodes from the internet.  One requires you to have an rather  fast internet connection, while the others might not require it.

Each Noir episode on computer is usually around the size ~150mb.  This is a rather large file.  If you are on a normal modem connected to an ISP at 28.8.  This file will take you about 24 hours of straight continous download time to get it.  The three reliable methods that I know of are 1) IRC 2) FTP 3) News Groups

I shall explain each in detail.  But first, if you have succeeded, but can't play the .AVIs, it is because you need the proper CODEC, you can get here - DiVX v4.01 from ProjectMayo.

IRC is short for Internet Relay Chat.  It is a method of communicating probably back when Windows didn't even exist.  To get Noir from IRC requires you to have a pretty decent connection, usually around ~10KB/second download.  To even get on the IRC, you must first download an IRC Client.

The best IRC client that you can get is something called mIRC.  You can download mIRC at www.mirc.com.  I will not get into details about how to download mIRC, goto the link, and you should be able to figure it out!

When you first run mIRC, the mIRC options box pops up and if you are a first time user -- you are probably lost.  But first thing to do is to enter in your information.  Full name/Email Address/Nickname/Alternative Nickname.  Personally, I would suggest you enter in completely false information.  Something like John Doe/Doe@aol.com/John1238/John1124 is completely acceptable.  Then, what you'd need to do is on the Category box to the left, find something under Connect called "IdentD"  You wil want to enable this and put in some other made up name for User ID:  You can leave all the other options blank for now.

To connect, first there are two different servers that you could obtain Noir from (and probably others that I don't really know).  They are 1) EFNet servers 2) DALNet servers and 3) ETG servers.  EFNet is the largest right now and very unfriendly I would say.  I don't go onto EFNET at all.  DALNet is a bit better, and there, you should be able to find what we need to find.  Same with ETG.

Now, to get into the DALNet servers, you can go back up to the Category connect, select Dalnet from the very top box, and connect to any one of the DALNet servers listed in the second box.  Sometimes, this might not work.  To find out all the available DALNet servers, goto www.dal.net and click on the "Servers" tab.  With this listing, you could hit "Okay" to get out of the mIRC options window, and click on the Status window's command line, and enter in "/server tsunami.ma.us.dal.net"

tsunami.ma.us.dal.net is just an example out of all the servers listed under www.dal.net.  You could try any one of them.  Once you are connected, it'd show messages similiar to...

-
-flodder-c.ma.us.dal.net- *** Looking up your hostname...
-
-flodder-c.ma.us.dal.net- *** Checking Ident
-
-flodder-c.ma.us.dal.net- *** Found your hostname
-
-flodder-c.ma.us.dal.net- *** Got Ident response
-
Welcome to the DALnet IRC Network

Your host is flodder-c.ma.us.dal.net[@0.0.0.0], running version bahamut-1.4(30)proplems
This server was created Tue Aug 28 2001 at 23:21:34 EDT

And so on.  When it's done, you will be at the prompt again OR at the mIRC channel folder window.  If you are at the mIRC channel folder window, simply enter in channel names, and hit Join, to join the channels.  If at the status window prompt, you must enter in "/join #<channel name>"

Channels to join for animes such as Noir are -- #anime-empire, #animempeg, #animedivx, #animemovies, #anime-hentai

These channels usually require you to register your nickname.  To register your nick name, you must goto the status window command line, and type "/nickserv register <password> <email>"

For help in how to use /nickserv and /chanserv, just type "/nickserv help" and "/chanserv help"  I will not go into much more detail then this, email me if any specific questions.

When you attempt to join these channels, it'd sometimes say "wrong key!"  What that means is.. the channel is locked with a key and you must know the password to get in.  The password is easily obtainable at the status command line by typing in "/list anime"  This'd list all the channel with the name "anime" in it, and on the top should be the channels I've listed.  You'd also see the topic line of those channels.  The topic line usually tells you what the "key" is.  And to join the channel, just put in "/join <channel name> <key>"

Once you are in the channel, read the topic list first.  Sometimes, they will not let you do "!list"  Sometimes, they wants you to.  If it doesn't say -- do "!list"

For example --

<Nickname> !list
-gquan[serv]- (File Servers Online) Trigger:(@gquan) Min CPS:(15000) Record CPS:(189055 by kin_tama) Sends:(5/5) Queues:(30/999) Note:(no 56K!! | Dont change ur nick)
-Poobs- (File Servers Online) Trigger:(!gimme shiz) Snagged:(91.87Gb in 617 files) Min CPS:(9.8Kb/s) Record CPS:(650.1Kb/s by Feynmanx86) Online:(1/4) Sends:(5/10) Queues:(8/50) Accessed:(2005 times) Note:(STAY AWAY SLOW CONNECTIONS! Trade to skip queue.) «~{Polaris IRC 2001}~»

This is just 2 of the file servers listed.  You would see the part "Trigger:" for most file servers, and all you have to do, is type the trigger in the channel.  For example, typing @gquan would get gquan to send you a file about what he have.  And unfortunately, he doesn't have Noir online currently.  But, there are many file servers to choose from, and the wait time is long.  But, given time and patience, you'd get it eventually.

------------------------------

The second server I goto is irc.enterthegame.com, you go into this irc server the same way you would for DALNet server.  Instead of doing "/server irc.dal.net", you would do "/server irc.enterthegame.com"  Once you are in the server, join the channel #soldats, they are the ones that releases Noir at the moment.  But remember one thing, the environment in ETG is even tighter knitted then that of DALNet, so be nice and courteous.

-----------------------------

The second method of obtaining Noir is using FTP.  FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol.  This method requires you to know the IP Address, Port #, Login, and Password for the FTP Server.  What you need to do first though, is to download a FTP Client.  You can get a client from www.download.com, and do a search for "FTP Client"  Once you obtain one, you could obtain FTP sites from IRC, from friends, from here in the Noir Forum if you go look =)

-----------------------------

The third method of obtaining Noir is by using News Groups.  Newsgroup is a method of transmitting messages and files by using a large central file server.  Usually, if you have an ISP, they'd have a NewsGroup server.  Ask your ISP Network Adminstrator or your cable modem provider!  To even start getting stuff from Newsgroup, you must first have a NewsGroup client.  You can get one from www.download.com, and go to CNET: Downloads : PC : Internet : Newsreaders.  Download one you like, and configure it according to information provided by your ISP.

If your ISP doesn't have a newsgroup server, you can sign up for one.  Goto www.altavista.com, and do a search for by typing in "+newsgroup +uncensored"  This'd list news serving services such as --

Uncensored Newsgroup Usenet Server - Premium news feeds and news service - Num
Uncensored Newsgroup Usenet News Server providing premium newsgroups and unlimited, uncensored access featuring every newgroup! More News Groups!...
URL: http://www.morenewsgroups.com/ • Related pages  • Translate
Additional relevant pages from this site

**Sign up to whatever rate you like.  Remember to check their download quota, 50 megabyte per day is NOT a good deal in my opinion.

Once you are connected to the news server, you must first get the comprehensive listing of groups available to you.  The ones that we are interested in are listed as follows

alt.binaries.anime
alt.binaries.multimedia.anime
alt.binaries.multimedia.anime.repost

These three newsgroup would provide you with almost up-to-date releases of Noir.  And occasionally, reposts of past episodes.  You could post messages requesting for whatever you like!
